What’s In A Bargain – The Skinny On Marco’s Lone Thrift Store

As Realtors on Marco Island, we can attest that disposing of unwanted furniture represents a hot topic during some transactions. Whether the situation involves sellers looking to clear up inventory before listing or buyers deciding that included items just don't fit their plan, desire for furniture liquidation is all too common. Fortunately, the dumpster is not the only option; thanks to Bargain Basket, a thrift store option also exists. Let’s talk about Marco’s lone thrift store and how to best utilize the store in a way that not only rids you of unwanted furniture, but provides a fantastic buying opportunity for someone else.

Bargain Basket Overview

Bargain Basket is run by the United Church of Marco Island. One of their website slogans states “when you shop, you serve,” meaning whether you are purchasing goods or donating, you are making a move that benefits the community as a whole. Bargain Basket is located at 750 Bald Eagle Drive, Marco Island, FL; to put it another way, if you were traveling south from the Jolley Bridge, you would go right onto Bald Eagle Drive, and Bargain Basket will be on your left, across the street from Paradise Seafood and Big Al’s.

Bargain Basket Tips
If you are hauling furniture over to Bargain Basket, here are a few ground rules:

• Donation times are 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday to Friday and 9:00am-4:00pm Saturday.
  • Refrain from donating outside these hours; items have been known to get stolen or damaged, and the store also wishes to avoid fines from the city.
• Donations are dropped off at the back of the store. To get there you will have to take Herb Savage way; see image below for highlighted route to get to the back.
• Once you are there to donate, wait for a friendly member of the intake team to come out and they will help you!
